Tips For Traveling With Electronics – How To Keep Things Organized

Nowadays, you can’t seemingly go anywhere without carrying several electronics with you.

Whether it’s tablets, phones, or cameras – there’s a lot that you have to worry about. This can make it difficult to fit some of the other things you need along for the trip. These gadgets are necessary for work and play. Leaving them at home or the office is simply not an option for the most part.

The biggest hurdle with taking all of the needed electronics with you on the road is fitting them into your suitcase and luggage. After all, they are bulky and they come with a lot of wires that take up space. Luckily, there are ways you can better organize your electronics to create more usable space and to ensure they don’t get broken. Here are some of the best ways to do so.

    1. Bundle Your Cables

One of the best things you can do to create a lot more usable space is to bundle all of your cables together. There’s nothing worse than having a suitcase full of messy cables all over the place. Luckily, implementing a cable management system can solve all of your problems. However, not many are familiar with the best practices to do so. It only takes a couple of materials to get the job done.

Get yourself some VELCO branded tape and/or cable ties and you can get everything properly sorted and organized rather effortlessly. These materials will allow you to bundle everything tightly together and place them into a travel case. Or, you could keep them in the pockets of your backpacks or suitcases for easy access.

    2. Pack The Adapters

Another good way to fix a lot of your problems while on the go is to minimize the number of adapters you need. Downsizing can be a great way to fix your problems easily. No one wants to pack five different cables and adapters for several electronics. Instead, find a solution that gives you everything all in one. This will allow you to charge all of your devices without having to worry about a different cable here or there.

For instance, if you have an iPhone with a Lightning connector, you’ll want to get an adapter so you can use the same cables for everything. An adapter can make your life easier. This is true whether you’re talking about a charging adapter, a 3.5mm adapter, or anything else. Also, if you want to downsize for headphones, you can always make the switch to Bluetooth which is compatible with all modern electronics. That way, you can listen without wires and get excellent compatibility. You do need to worry about charging them. Therefore, try to get headphones that can be charged either wirelessly or with a wire you’re already carrying with you.

    3. Multi-Purpose Cases

This is another good thing that you can do to make traveling a lot easier. Whenever you are traveling and space comes at a premium, you want to get a good case that’s going to provide you with a lot of usability and versatility. You’ll need to protect your gadgets anyways. Because of this, it makes a lot of sense to get a case that can double for many things.

You’ll find a lot of good multi-purpose cases you can invest in that will make your travels much easier on the go. Downsizing with the right case can be made much easier.

    4. Know The Rules

Whenever you are traveling in the air, you’ll need to adhere to all of the regulations regarding air travel. Because of this, you’ll want to figure these things out beforehand. That way, you aren’t left scrambling while waiting in the security line at the checkpoint. For instance, you may not know that you cannot carry lithium batteries in your checked luggage.

However, you can in your carry-on. Thus, you want to ensure you are only storing them in your carry-on luggage. Likewise, you want to do the same for any battery packs that you are using.

    5. Travel Organizer

A travel organiser is worth its weight in gold when it comes to making travel easier. Nowadays, you are carrying more and more electronics. Because of this, you want to have a good organizer that has plenty of compartments to make organizing everything easier. As long as you are willing to use an organizer the way it’s intended to be used, it makes for a good investment.

These organizers can give you individual pockets and space for all of the tiny cables that you would otherwise misplace. You don’t need to invest in an expensive organizer. You can find a lot of cheaper and more affordable options that will do the job just as well.

    6. Don’t Bring Everything

While there aren’t a lot of things you can leave behind, you should be picky about what you are bringing. Doing some pre-planning is one of the best ways to ensure you are only bringing things that you need and that you will be using. Nothing is worse than lugging around stuff that you don’t even need.

Figure out what’s essential and what can stay. Do you need your tablet? What will you be doing with your tablet that you cannot do with your smartphone? These are things that you should be asking to figure out what’s essential and what isn’t. Save space with a portable charging station.

    7. Always Put Things Back

This is something that a lot of people fail to do when they are traveling. Putting things back where they belong is crucial if you want to keep everything fully organized at all times. If you take something out of a special place, put it back in the same spot. Otherwise, your organizer will turn into a mess real quick.

    8. Think Minimal

Minimalism is trendy. While it’s not always realistic, you want to try to embrace some of it when you are traveling. Minimalism is all about finding things that are versatile enough to help you pack light. You can do this in various ways when you are traveling with gadgets. Try to use versatile gadgets that will deliver you more value than a single-use case.

Buy gear that is versatile so you don’t have to carry tens of cables at a time. Pack only what you need and what you will be using. Think like a minimalist and you’ll find yourself traveling lighter before you know it.
