The BIG day is upon us! Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 7 tomorrow, that is, on Wednesday, September 7. Apple will be launching both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Both phones will go on sale as early as on September 16, 2016 in the US. They are expected to be released in India and China in December 2016.
What experts are looking for, more than anything, is for new inspiration from Apple with the new iPhone 7 launch. The company knows very well about what the public wants from the iPhone.
Faithful iPhone users have always wanted some must-have features in the iPhone, which are already in place in Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S devices. Apple knows that it cannot afford to alienate its loyalists at this point and has to give them what they want from the new iPhone.
The new iPhone is expected to come in a 4.7 inch model – for iPhone 7 and 5.5 inch model – for iPhone 7 Plus.
As of now, all of this is top secret. We only have hints from insiders in the tech industry. Apple has been very encouraged by the poor reception given to its main competitor, Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which had to be recalled because of technical defects.
We have been able to gather a lot of information about the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus from a blog run by a Vietnamese tech blogger, Ming-Chi Kuo. Mr. Kuo claims to have used both the Silver and Black versions of the iPhone 7, which he says is a 4.7 inch device.
According to him, the Apple logo on the new iPhone is shinier and matches the outer profile of the phone. The volume buttons are placed in the same position as the old iPhone, but they are not in the concave dent any longer. In fact, the volume buttons pop out of the chassis, and look very attractive indeed.
One of the big changes with the new iPhone is that it has been made more waterproof than the earlier iPhones. There have always been major complaints about the iPhone not being waterproof enough and getting damaged in the rain. Apple hopes to set that right with the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The SIM tray, for example, comes with a rubber seal which protects the SIM card inside from the water.
The camera on the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 7 offers support for 4K video recording at 60fps. This is major improvement over the iPhone 6s, which supports 4K video recording at 30fps.
The home button on the new iPhone will be capacitive. That means it will react to any pressure put on it. It is expected to incorporate the features of Force Touch.
Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will come with the A10 chip, which is expected to be faster and more powerful than the current version, the A9 chip. Also interesting is that Apple has boosted the volume of iPhone 7 by 10 percent.
There are many other changes with the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. For one, Apple has always wanted to get rid of the 3.5mm audio jack and now it has been able to do so with the new phone. The iPhone 7 will come with 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options.
Also, Digitimes.com reports that Apple has boosted the production of the new iPhones by 10% in view of the huge interest in their launch. Apple seems very confident about the replacement demand for the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus from existing iPhone users.
This is a big improvement over the previous estimates held by the company which projected the new iPhone sales to be just 60% of that of the iPhone 6S, which hit 30 million units a month towards the end of 2015.
