Covert Conversation is a plugin that allows you to get more people to sign up for your affiliate offer – covertly but effectively.
So what does Covert Conversation do for you? We are guessing you are very familiar with Skype. You know how Skype works and you can instantly recognize the Skype call notification every time it appears. The Skype call notification consists of a combination of a Skype dialog box and sound, as you are well aware of. It’s something people feel safe about and click on without a moment’s hesitation.
The Covert Conversation plugin uses the same idea and puts a likable pop up on your page that looks just like a Skype call notification. The goal is to get them to compulsively click on the Covert Conversation pop-up, which would lead them to your affiliate or CPA. The whole thing works seamlessly and it doesn’t look as though forced in any way whatsoever.
But does it work? Here’s what we did. We asked the company behind Covert Conversation, IM Wealth Builders, to send us a link to a page that could explain how the plugin worked; so that we could understand plugin better before installing it.
And as we were reading the web page, a Skype-like call notification popped up on it…which we clicked on without much of a thought, as though performing a reflex action – as most people would on receiving a Skype call notification. This led us to a dummy page, which could have well been an affiliate page. That was Covert Conversation in action – it leads your visitors to your affiliate page very subtly.
So does Covert Conversation work? It does. But here’s the thing. The plugin will be effective and not seen as a nuisance if the affiliate link is something that is related to your blog post or web content. For sure the Skype sound will grab your reader’s attention – but if they click on the affiliate link and find that it’s completely unrelated to what they were reading on your site in the first place, that would only serve to irritate them and put them off completely.
So, use the Covert Conversation plugin only with relevant content. Indeed, your content is the most important thing here, if you don’t have content that informs, educations and entertains, there won’t be much that Covert Conversation can do. The plugin should be seen as something that increases the chances of someone clicking on an affiliate link and signing up for the affiliate offer – that’s all.
But we like what we see, and while we don’t use it on every blog or web page, it is for sure a great way to get people to click on your affiliate link. There are a lot of plugins out there that claim to do this for you, but we found the pop-ups from Covert Conversation to be the best. It is non-intrusive and yet impossible to ignore – that’s the way pop ups should be.
