Sony has confirmed that it will no longer manufacture PSPgo, which is a version of the PlayStation Portable handheld game console launched in 2009. While speaking to Japanese site Impress, Sony put the full stop on the rumors and confirmed that production of not-so-successful portable gaming console will cease. Around the world, any unites which are still in warehouses will remain on sale until they’re gone.
We may never know that why Sony has killed PSPgo so soon? The reason behind it’s failure is that PSGgo is never sold so well and has not been a fan favorite ,and ultimately died in the competition with cheaper Nintendo DS Lite and the do-anything iPod Touch. Also, there is the inability for UMD owners to transfer their games over to the PSPgo as the digitally downloaded games arriving later than those on UMDs. Now, all the speculation has come to an end. Although, Sony did not say exactly that when will be production of the console finally closed but very soon it will be closed. Sony will utilize utilize its resources on producing the NGP . It is expected that by the end of this year, NGP will be shipped in at least on territory. Sony has announced to continue soldiering on with the bigger PSP-3000. Well, Good luck!
YouTube videos now served in WebM
Google has announced on the official Youtube blog that in the future, all the popular video streaming services will be adopting the WebM format for all their videos. WebM is an open media file format for video and audio on the web. Its openness allows any user to improve the format and its integrations which leads to better experience for you. YouTube aims to create one format that fits all standard by adopting WebM by comparing different video formats to power adapters and power outlets. All the videos that played on different devices, will be streamed in the same format in the future and hence are trans-coded in webM.
Now great content will be delivered to you, despite wherever you are – regardless of device, browser or other technical specification which leads you to not to remember that complicated “power adapter converter” to watch a video and you would not have to download a whole bunch of different codecs or plug-ins when using different browsers to watch videos on YouTube. This means that there is no need to create mobile-optimized content as the mobile devices like smartphones can access the same content as desktop computers.
Youtube is trans coding all new video uploads into WebM and also working to trans-code the entire video catalog to WebM when the servers are not so busy. Only 30% of videos have been converted- not much but that makes up 99% of views on the site. In order to eliminate the problems for the users of different browsers and devices while playing videos on YouTube, YouTube will still continue to support H.264 as an important codec – sounds good! It also committed to continuing to develop our HTML5 video player. Hope all these will happen in actual!
eHarmony Hacked, In the time of Valentine’s Day

Online dating site eHarmony has been hacked, eHarmony is asking some of its users to change their passwords after being alerted by KrebsOnSecurity to a potential security breach of customer information. Aziz Maakaroun, business development director at vulnerability management specialist Outpost24 said- “In the run up to Valentine’s Day, the timing of this purported breach could be fairly disastrous for dating website eHarmony,” Maakaroun said. “For any existing customer, being told that your details have potentially been hacked is hardly an aphrodisiac.”
Databases are a popular attack vector for hackers. A SQL injection vulnerability (An attack technique used to exploit web sites by altering backend SQL statements through manipulating application input) on a secondary site created a possible means for screen names, email addresses and hashed passwords to be extracted. eHarmony has a massive infrastructure (MapReduce, Hadoop, MySql, etc). Doing security audits is difficult enough, even more so on third-party software.
Chris Russo, a self-styled “security researcher” from Buenos Aires, and Brian Krebs, author of the KrebsOnSecurity blog alerted eHarmony’s corporate offices about potential exploit to the eHarmony database, which is the most sensitive thing where all the email addresses and passwords may have been compromised. But, Joseph Essas who is chief technology officer at eHarmony denies it by claiming, “Despite his reports to you, we have found no evidence to suggest that Russo has successfully compromised at the network level our corporate email and eHarmony site environments.”
Essas believes that Russo is trying to obtain money from the company by his fraudulent efforts. He said that “in addition to continuing to assess the situation, we are taking some proactive precautionary measures,” but he is not specific that what those measures may be. Kerbs claimed that he has heard from an eHarmony user who said she had received an email from the eHarmony urging her to change her password. eHarmony is in the process of advising a small number of users to change their login credentials as a precaution.

Russo told that he’d discovered vulnerabilities in eHarmony’s network that allowed him to view passwords since December of last year. Through Carder.biz which is an online forum that enables cyber crooks to engage in a variety of shady transactions, both Krebs and Russo found a curious solicitation from a user there. A seller using the nickname “Provider”, claims to have access to “different parts of the [eHarmony] infrastructure and exploit database and e-mail channels by from buying and selling hacked data and accounts to the purchase and/or renting of criminal services, such as botnet hosting, exploit packs etc. Provider was offering this information for prices ranging from $2,000 to $3,000.
The hacker is also advertising data from other popular websites such as www.diversitybusiness.com, www.pixmania.com and www.eidos.com in the same forum, which he or his associates may have hacked as well. So, Every dating site out there should perform a security audit immediately in order to protect them from hacking.

Movie studios are now suing a website that provides file sharing service “Hotfile”. It seems like movie studios are bringing down the heat on file-sharing services , one at a time, all over the internet. According to documents filed with the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida Miami Division, Five Hollywood studios including Disney Enterprises Inc, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp, Universal City Studios Productions, Columbia Pictures Industries and Warner Bros Entertainment Inc on Tuesday filed suit against Hotfile Corp and Hotfile manager Anton Titov. The Motion Picture Association of America Inc said -”Hotfile profits from this theft by charging a monthly fee to users who download content from its servers. Hotfile also operates an incentive scheme that rewards users for uploading the most popular files — which are almost exclusively copyrighted works. Hotfile profits richly while paying nothing to the studios for their stolen content.”
According to Movies studios, Panamanian Hotfile actively encourages users to upload and disseminate copyrighted content, and pays them to do so. They say that Hotfile has profited from the arrangement. Hotfile does have an Intellectual Property disclaimer on their website that is supposedly fully compliant with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Hotfile has become one of the most heavily-trafficked sites on the Internet in less than two years of operation and according to the filing, the movie studios are seeking damages and injunctive relief. But at the same time, it looks like that isn’t going to save its skin. It is true that we’ll be seeing Hotfile close down pretty soon, but another file-sharing services will probably rise up to take its place by replacing it. Let’s see what is going to be happened.

Microsoft is going to introduce throwaway email addresses for their Hotmail users. You might have thought that Hotmail was already for chuck away email addresses, but this software giant will now make it much easier to redirect mail to your existing primary address. Targeted at subscribers who need an email address just to sign up for a forum or some online service temporarily, this service will allow them to create a sub-address with their existing account. Now, Users will be able to create up to 5 new email addresses per year. To create a sub-address, Hotmail subscribers can already use add a +sign and a word to the first part of their email address. This means you still give away part of your address.

Under the new rules you can add up to five new email addresses per year. Messages will be sent to a folder within your primary email. Any messages sent to these temporary addresses will be forwarded to the user’s main account. While this service has been offered by other sites for quite some time now (i.e. Mailinator), though, it’s good to see that Microsoft is continuously upgrading its web email service. Now,it looks like users need not to set up different accounts for receiving different types of messages if they’re on Hotmail. After it, it sure beats having the need to remember 3 different passwords for 3 different email accounts unless of course they are the same.
Windows Live director Dharmesh Mehta shared his views by saying- “Let’s say you’re in the market for a new car. There are a bunch of websites that will email you price quotes, sales alerts, etc. During your car search, these messages are helpful, but once you’re done, they become clutter that can be difficult to stop. By using an alias on these websites instead of your main email address, you can avoid this.”
Now let us see how far this technique will help Hotmail in taking the affect of gmail away from the mind of widely separated internet crowd. As every coin has two faces, and so is with this case.
Usage-Based billing plan threatened to be killed – Canadian Government

Canada’s Industry Minister Tony Clement has announced via Twitter that the Harper government will repeal the CRTC’s decision if the commission does not rescind it itself. He has announced it after fews days when Canadian Radio-Telecommunications Commission (CTRC) sanctioned “Usage-Based Billing” (also called metered Internet) for Bell.
Usage-based billing arguably destroys any competitive advantage because it forces third party Internet access providers, who lease lines from ISPs such as Bell, to cap their bandwidth.
Paying the whopping $2 per GB overage fees proposed under the usage-based billing plan, it would be more cheaper for users who exceed Canada’s 25 GB per month data cap to buy an SSD, fill it up with bits, and ship it across O Canada as illustrated in infographic form by Reddit user CGSColin.
Industry Minister Clement:
“True. CRTC must go back to drawing boardRT @RosieBarton is it true you will overturn internet decision if crtc does not back down?”
A Conservative government official told the Toronto Star, “The CRTC should be under no illusion — the Prime Minister and minister of Industry will reverse this decision unless the CRTC does it itself … If they don’t reconsider we will reverse their decision.” by Corroborating Clement’s tweet.
“While the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission is an independent agency, its decision can be overturned by cabinet. The Star was told that could happen as early as next week.”
When the Internauts of Canada are not out of the woods quite yet, there is an exceptional chance that they will be back in no time to downloading by the bucketful.

A new milestone has been established into the chips and bits world by Intel again. Intel has merged the silicon and laser technology together which has resulted into possible transmission of data at 50 Gbps between two components which is been expected to rise up to a speed of more than one Tbps (Terabyte per Second) in near future with the advancement of this newly invented technology. Intel has given the technology a name “Silicon photonics” which is likely to replace the usage of copper wires in order to connect peripherals to computer or one DTE (Data transmission entity) to another.
The photonics technology basically consists of the fundamentals of removing the physical limitation showed by copper wires when used for long distant connections. The silicon photonics generally refers to the modulation, switching and transmission of light signals (carrying data bits) with the help of lasers and LED’s which would be done in a manner such that it could be helpful in improving the bandwidth of signal without having any influence of physical distance or any foreign noise creating particles between two transmission entities.
If we go through the general terms, the speed provided by this technology, if applied on Internet connections, will be helpful in downloading about 50 gigabyte of data in less than one second. And it is not going to be less than a dream come true.
Now let us study about photonics working manner. In photonics, each module consists of two basic parts: a silicon transmitter and receiver. The transmitter component has further four lasers whose light beams go through an optical modulator. The function of this modulator is to encode data on them at 12.5 Gbps. All four beams are then merged to give an output of total 50 Gbps data transmission rate.
This has been tested by Intel for more than 25 hours continuously and it worked successfully with no errors or bugs. Thus we can imagine how reliable this technology is. This is completely a new face of fast computing. You can assume yourself that how the precious and valuable part of human time is going to be saved in large terms.
In nutshell, the Intel has decided to give something new and different to the world, not just faster, but also better. And it is just the starting, we are actually now going to enter the new world of really high speed computing invented by the Intel. Let us hope for the best!
