Those other tips are pretty good .. there is also more to be done like system optimization with programs like fixit utilities or system mechanic pretty good for this. You can also increase preformace by adding more ram and a better cooling system for cpu or cleaning up the fan and circuitry in your pc does a great job , a cooler system is a faster one. the color blue is also more prefered !
